i recently started journaling this year and found it was amazing just to have a record of everyday, the mundane, the extraordinary, all the things that make life worth living. whilst it takes self regulation and determination to keep going once you've started, there are so many options that you're bound to find one that works for you, either using traditional pen and paper or new technology. here are a couple of ideas for starting your own journal.

WRITE
- vent out everything you can, a train of thought, a never ending sentence.
- start with dot points and elaborate when you want
- write lists with different themes
- write a story, a poem, a song, a script
- write down your song of the day and why it was so relevant today
- reflect on a moment or scene that inspired you, or someone you've encountered
- things that you're grateful for today, the things you love and why
- record daily inspirational quotes
- think about how you've changed and see how your perspective has differed over time
- have a problem or big decision? rant, make pros and cons, minimal your options.
- set goals and dreams, pathways and aspirations

CREATE
- draw everything you ate today, what you wore, who you were with, where you went
- the same with but in photographs, you could print them or make a private blog
- draw ideas, maps of where you've gone today, buildings, your dream house, your dream partner, draw things that make you happy, or reminisce, cartoons of dialogues & situations, inspirations for bodies of work, cd covers
- get inspired by a photographer or artist that you love and try to create something in a similar style for your own depictions of your day. you could get inspired by magazines as well! you can also make small collages in your journal.
